The most important thing for a new player at Torn.com to do is to join a faction in my opinionTorn Factions are teams where you can get tips on improved game play and talk with other playersI recommend the faction Lethal Kittens for two reasonsThe Torn Faction Lethal Kittens is excellent to new players and provide tips and equipment it would take you weeks to acquire by yourselfThe second reason I like Lethal Kittens is that I am in that faction myselfMy Torn username is RandyncThe weapons alone given by this faction to newbies is worth joining themLethal Kittens do not accept everyone in that applies but it is worth trying.

When you join Torn you need to get a job to start earning moneyThere are only certain ones a brand new player can start withI did the Army but you can pick one of severalAs you advance in rank you can do different jobs or even start your own company in the game.

Now the guide to playing Torn gets to the important stuffRaising your rank in the game is what we all strive to doYou rank up in Torn by committing crimes and working on your battle stats.

Battle stats are improved by working out at the gym or trading job points (you get points for your job) for improved statsThe crimes go from easy to hardest and I recommend doing the easy ones firstA new player should mostly use the "Search for Cash" or "Sell Copied Media" crimes at firstYou will make a small bit of money for yourself and not go to jail very often for those "Newbie" crimes.

Closing of EVEThe EVE wormhole closed while the EVE gates were still under constructionThis didn't seem to affect the gates at all and they functioned properly from the startBut then, after seven decades of working flawlessly, disaster struckAn unexplained phenomenon engulfed the EVE gates, creating a severe disturbance, rendering the gates inoperable and reducing the prosperous New Eden system to rubbleThe EVE gate in New Eden still exists, but any ship that tries to go near it is destroyed by the gravity storms

The effects of Eve's closure were sudden and dramatic, with all the bases and settlements in New Eden being affectedWithout the gates, the colonists found themselves cut off and isolatedAs most of the colonies had only been settled a few years or decades previously, very few of them were self-sufficientOne by one the colonies died outThe few colonies who survived slowly lost their knowledge and advanced industries due to the lack of tools and the ability to maintain them

For thousands of years, these scattered human enclaves lived and grew in isolation from each otherAs time passed, their different environmental and ideological conditions wrought small changes to their physical appearance, making each distinct
